A Private View of Future Human at GV Art

Nests by Mell Fisher and Marvy Rose
The other evening I attended the private view of Future Human at GV Art, which is on until Saturday 28 June 2014 + events. This fun and engaging exhibition uses a wide variety of art forms including animation, photography and sculpture to explore the futuristic theme of human evolution. Future Human is an collaboration with the undergraduate students involved in the Broad Vision art/science research and learning project at the University of Westminster.
Nests by Mell Fisher (animation) and Marvy Rose (poetry) is a delightful short film about birds building their nest, with the iconic City of London skyline in the background, featuring St Paul's Cathedral and the Gherkin (aka 30 St Mary's Axe).

Decellularisation Organs by Gosia Stasiewicz
The display features the trachea and heart of a chicken and a slice of sheep's heart and explores the possibility of organ recycling.

Bioluminescent Company by Kelly Biggins and Simon Westgate
This was my favourite in a series of fun, fictitious adverts for an alternative organic engery source.

FE Labyrinthine by William Skelton and Robbie Anson Duncan
This short film beautifully captures the interaction of ferrofluid, neodymium magnets and water based ink.

Unit of Mind by Julia Milchakova
This collage depicts two paths of enlightenment, one following technology and the other mindfulness and inner fulfilment.

Unit of Mind by Julia Milchakova (detail)
Great quote "Love and compassion are necessities not luxuries" by the Dalai Lama.

Decellurisation Timelapse by Jed Welland, Pongthorn Freeman and Tobin Symmons
A timelapse video which speeds up the full decellurisation process in a matter of minutes.

Future Human
It was fascinating to watch Future Human slowly taking shape with thanks to Ian Lewis and his printbot, a portable printer.

Future Human by Arnoldus Kukulskis
In good old fashioned Blue Peter style, "here's one I made earlier".
