    La Cantina

Scones seem such a quintessentially British/ English thing, I never thought for my final blog in 2015, I would be eating them in Africa. However while researching veggie food options for my holiday in Essaouria, Morocco I came across La Cantina. It’s a small café in the heart of the Medina (the old city) which serve along side savoury food, home made scones and cakes. So with the challenge of eating scones in a different continent I decided to visit them.

November brought a wonderful scone surprise, when I visited Centre of the Cell to attend “Was the First World War good for medicine?” by Professor Tilli Tansey, the latest lecture in their wonderful The Big Question series. The lecture itself was fascinating but at the end of they had a special buffet serving sandwiches and scones provided by QM Catering. In this scone extravaganza I was joined by friends Katie, Head of Learning at Centre of the Cell (huge thank you to for organising the catering), Rebecca, Ros and Amardeep.

    The Farmacy

    The Farmacy – Philadelphia

This month’s scone blog features two fabulous afternoon teas but I’ll start off with a little controversy.  Last month I was in USA and  it was lovely to see @keftiugal again. She took me to some very cool and amazing places, but nowhere we went to had scones on the menu. The nearest I got to eating my beloved scones was when we went for Sunday brunch to The Farmacy, a restaurant in West Philadelphia near the University, and on the menu were American biscuits.

    Tea and Tattle

September found me enjoying scones in quite diverse locations, starting off I made a return visit to one of my favourite tea rooms, I then partook of a cream tea in one of London’s top hotels and finally checked out the in store café in supermarket.

This month’s blog is a bit of a scone fest, featuring a whopping six reviews, and including scones from London, York, Oxford and Northampton. Be warned it’s a bit of a long one but hope you enjoy the photos. I’ll start with this month’s only London entry which serves an extraordinary selection of  jams.

This month I’m delighted to say that I’ve managed to partake of afternoon tea at The Goring and Oakley Court, two hotels which have been on my to do list tea list for absolutely ages, plus enjoyed scones for breakfast at Caravan.

    Original Maids of Honour

I have to start with a confession, June’s been a busy month and I’ve only managed to fit in two afternoon teas, both very different but both equally wonderful. I made a return visit to the Original Maids of Honour, for a very traditional High Tea, and also sampled the delights of a Moroccan afternoon tea.
