In Yannick and mine’s quest, *cough* ok our obsession for all things art deco, the other week we out geeked ourselves by visiting a supermarket. Needless to say this was no ordinary shop as the Grade II* Listed Hoover Factory had been on our Must Do list for a while as it is one of the finest art deco buildings in London.

  2. Guesting on London Undone's Podcast about Postman's Park

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to be interviewed by London Undone about Postman's Park, a delightful small open space which is also my favourite place in the City of London. It was my first ever podcast and great fun to do. My interview is just one of five City Guides talking about different aspects of the park. So if you'd like to hear the podcast click here.

    Rotherhithe

Rotherhithe, on the south bank of the River Thames, has managed to retain a charming village atmosphere and it is from here I started my walk along the Thames Path. In Part One of this two part blog post I explore Rotherhithe’s delightful historic centre before continuing my journey along the waterfront to Tower Bridge.

Afternoon tea beautifully presented on a three tiered cake stand

Originally opening in 1865, the Cafe Royal is the byword in glamour and style and with a guest list that has included Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Taylor, David Bowie and Diana, Princess of Wales. So a few weeks ago in our ever continuing quests to partake of afternoon tea in every luxury hotel in Westminster Julie Chandler and I paid the Cafe Royal a visit too.

  7. Guest Blog about Postman Park for the Cemetery Club

I really enjoy the Cemetery Club's blog as it's full of atmospheric photos and fascinating stories and it's a great reference point for anyone wanting to know more about our magnificent cemeteries so I was delighted to be invited by Sheldon Goodman, one half of the Cemetery Club and a Westminster Guide student, to write a guest blog about one of my favourite graveyards in London.

I’ve written about "Postman Park" my favourite place in the City of London, it's a delightful small park near St Paul’s Cathedral best known for Watts Memorial of Heroic Self Sacrifice but it's also a former graveyard.

If you like this you might like to hear me being interviewed for London Undone's podcast about Postman Park.

  8. The Supreme Court - The Hidden Gem on Parliament Square

    Supreme Court

The exterior of Supreme Court only hints at its magnicient interior

Parliament Square is home to two of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey, however for anyone wanted to visit an impressive and historic building but without the crowds I would strongly recommend a visit to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is the highest court in the UK, as it is the final court of appeal in the UK for civil cases and for criminal cases from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. A few weeks ago I attended a private tour with Westminster Guides and we were delighted with what we saw.
